There is always one of several types of side-mission, though I’ll discuss that at the end. To win gold, you have to succeed in capping the south bridge point and the north bridge point, and then in defending the south bridge point from the German counterattack. Defend against waves of German infantry and armor. Send a tank through the German-held town to the point at the north bridge, cap it, and return.Ĥ. Heal/reinforce at the territory point just north of the bridge (“south bridge point,” your new base in effect), and start prepping a defense of this point.ģ. Charge across a bridge at the south of the town, fight superior German forces, and cap the two territory points immediately south and north of the bridge, plus the fuel point nearby to the N.Ģ. There are four parts or phases to the Ouren mission:ġ. Note that building veterancy/XP is usually not a big concern on this mission, because it’s inherently a high-veterancy mission (lots of shooting and getting shot, even when you try to minimize it), and, if it’s the last mission in your campaign, the company attempting it probably won’t need a lot of new veterancy points to reach three-star level. That’s why the strategy I’ll outline below is highly defensive, and focuses on blocking most German vehicles and infantry with tank traps (TTs) and wire. On its face, it’s really a suicide mission. You just don’t have the manpower and material resources. And, unfortunately, there is no “easy” strategy that allows you to face the German assault waves directly without significant casualties. has been annoyingly evident in prior missions-now it’s scaled up aggressively. You’ll face German infantry units that can shoot or grenade your troops while under fire from multiple HMGs you’ll face annoyingly effective German infantry support guns and of course you’ll face German armor that can pop out of the “fog of war” 15 meters in front of your AT weapons and get behind them before they even move, let alone fire. It’s also a very frustrating, stress-test-type mission, because many of the usual COH2 cheats, such as artificially poor visibility (for the player, never the AI) seem amplified. You will often do the Ouren (“Village on the Border”) mission last, because 1) it is more challenging than most other missions and brings a strong risk of major casualties, and 2) Ouren is on the Belgium-Germany border and thus makes geographic sense as the place where (your) Battle of the Bulge culminates.
